Finally, after 9 years I am a top rated seller. I just sell stuff I don’t use anymore I guess that is why it took so long 🙂

Ice Storm Khan January 27, 2013

If you live in East Tennessee then you already know what I am talking about. They named her Khan and she was cold as ice. She coated East Tennessee with a thin layer of freezing rain all day on Friday. Everything shut down, the town of Knoxville was hardly in operation. No mail, no newspaper, nothing was moving and that included us. We stayed home, didn’t have a choice really, and had a lazy day. I wrote a blog, cleaned house, cooked, baked, etc while he played Call of Duty for hours. I started getting a small case of cabin fever by dinner time and really wanted to leave but didn’t for fear the roads would refreeze once the sun was down. Our pups weren’t too happy about Khan and had trouble getting around outside to do their business. They were ice skating on the porch and in the yard. The Yorkie had to be rescued because after multiple attempts to climb the back steps he just couldn’t and I had to go get him. It was nice to stay home for a change but I am ready for warmer Spring time weather to come fast.

Thunder Snow in the South January 24, 2013

It went from 70 degrees and sunny to low 30’s and snowing in the matter of a few days, really. I live in South Knoxville and I have renamed it the Bermuda Triangle because once bad weather hits East Tennessee it destroys South Knoxville. On 1/13/13 I got stuck 4 times on the way home from work. I am not one to drive in the snow but I can and I do well in it but I just DO NOT like it. When I left work, I called my husband, who works is West Knoxville, wondering why he hasn’t called to check my safety and he said it wasn’t even snowing there, crazy. By this time we already had 3 inches of snow and it was still coming down hard. I told him to head home ASAP but it was already too late. Traffic was starting to back up and the interstate was not moving. It took him 3 hours to drive home, should have been 30 minutes on a normal day.

There really wasn’t a hurry home because we had lost power at 5:00 pm and did not get in back on until late the next night. It was freezing in the house, well not technically it was 47 when we awoke the next morning. We passed the time by playing some board games and trying  to stay warm. We had to pull out the ski gear to stay warm. I slept in my long underwear and a coat, it was a long night. The worse part of the past few days was that the saltwater tank got too cold and the 2 clown fish and some corals did not make it. I thought our star fish was also a goner but he defrosted once the tanks was up and running again. He however did lose one leg but it will grow back in time. The dogs did enjoy playing the snow and it was nice to see everything covered in white but I only like it if the power stays on.

They are calling for more snow and ice tonight, joy.

This is it! The finally week, 52, of 2012. I did it! I took 366 pictures everyday of 2012. It was hard at first and I didn’t think I was going to make it but in the end I really enjoyed it so I think I will continue it into 2013.

If it is Cold it Might as Well Snow October 21, 2011

I am not a fan of cold weather. It sends chills down my bones when it gets in the 40’s. One of the worst feelings is walking outside and it’s cold and raining; however, I do like one thing about cold weather, snow. I absolutely love it when it snows. It makes me all cheerful and warm inside. I don’t know if this feeling comes from my childhood, were I remember sitting on front of the TV watching the news and waiting for the weather man talk about some percentage of snow and hoping it would be a blizzard where we wouldn’t have school the next day. The sensation could also come from the movies. Whenever you are watching joyful Christmas movies there is normally classical music with snow falling in the background and everyone is happy and warm. Either way, I just love the snow.

When you live in the south snowfall is very limited. Knoxville’s annual snowfall is around 6.5 inches and snow on Christmas may happen once every decade, but once it arrives almost everyone is happy.  I love to make snowmen and sled down hills; I am like a child again. So, I say if it has to be cold it might as well snow.
