You + Me = Us Through The Years November 21, 2012

This Thanksgiving will be #9 for the hubby and I. It is strange how time flies by and gets away from you in a blink of an eye. It seems like yesterday we were going on our first date and being all bubbly eyed at each other. I was organizing my photos and thought it would be nice to put聽together a time-line of the “us.”聽A lot of has happened and changed since it all began in 2004. Hairstyles and colors gone bad along with different clothing styles. I giggles a bit at some of them. Well, here is a walk down memory lane.

2004

Our first date after talking for 2 months 馃檪 This was taken in the parking garage in West Town Mall. We went to see a movie but I couldn’t tell you what it was.

2005

We both love the outdoors and here we are camping in the Smoky Mountains

2006

After 2 years of dating we decided to get our own place together. This is us in downtown Knoxville watching Boomsday.

2007

We were聽cruising聽to Mexico and the聽Cayman聽Island this year. This was my first time out of the country and my first聽cruise.

2008

We had so much fun, we were off to Mexico, again!聽This was the year we purchased our first home together.

2009

Here is my brother-in-law and us enjoying our “new” boat

2010

Never skied before or been on a plane. I had a mild nervous break down on the plane and found out that I am not that coordinated聽to ski but we still had a great time.

2011

7 years down the road we finally say “I do!”

2012

Still happily together聽as we were in 2004

My Election Day 2012 November 7, 2012

This blog is not about my individual views on the candidates or who I believe should be the 44th president. I think that your political viewpoints are yours and should be kept to yourself. I in addition think it is very impolite to speak about the subject in public for the fact you may insult someone. This is just an ordinary entry about my election day and how it went down.

11/6/2012- I woke up in a not so cheerful mood all due to a certain little Yorkie waking me up twice in the middle of the night to go outside. Getting out of bed way before I should, I started doing some house cleaning. Then, I noticed a hairball on the rug thanks to my long haired cat Heidi. I threw the rug in the washer and continued on. After that, I noticed my saltwater tank had aiptasias growing on the live rock. Aiptasias are considered pests because they stress out the coral around them and can even sting fish and invertebrates, they must die. I got my aiptasia x out and started finding and killing the little pests. The cat, Heidi, decided I required help and jumped up on the table and knocked over the whole bottle. Now, I was really not in a happy mood. I went into the laundry room to get a towel to clean up the aiptasia mess and saw that the Yorkie had urinated on my kitchen rug. I unhappily cleaned the floor and I put that rug also in the washer. At this point, I just threw my hands in the air and called myself defeated and spent the next hour or two on Pinterest.

I got ready to go to work and decided I am going to go vote beforehand given that it could be crowded if I waited later in the day. I had never voted in Knoxville and wasn’t sure where I needed to go. I looked it up on the Knoxville City website and found the place in my precinct. The Optimist Club of Knoxville, what and where in the world is this place? I Google Maps it and got the directions. Off I went with my voter鈥檚 card and ID in hand. I found the place fine with the help from the road signs “Vote Here” with arrows pointing in the right directions. I parked my Element and walked into a small cold grey building. I looked around puzzled at first. I wasn鈥檛 sure where to go or what to do. An older lady asked me what my last name was and pointed me to my line. Given that my last name starts with a Z, no one was in my line and I did not have to wait.

I got up to the voting booth ready to place my vote but I didn’t think about all the other elections going on alongside the presidential. Oh dear, now I was faced with voting for people for additional offices and I did not know who they were or what they stood for. I wasn’t sure what to do and started to become anxious. On top of that, since I live in the city limits of Knoxville and I had to vote on other city issues along with ballots concerning pension plans. I barely understand what a pension plan is let alone vote if someone should be qualified to have one. I really should have done more research beforehand and felt appalled. Plus, the way they worded the ballots, I wasn’t sure if I was voting for or against them. I consider myself a well-informed person and I was having trouble fully understanding the legal wording. I couldn鈥檛 image what is would be like for someone who inexperienced.

I placed my vote and left. Not feeling very confident in my decisions other than my presidential vote. It only took about 10 minutes to vote. I was expecting 30 at minimum; thus, I got to work about 30 minutes early. I worked until close. I came home, fixed dinner and settled in for the night. About 7:30 I turned on CNN to check out what polls have closed and who is winning which states. This oddly made me feel like my mother. I remember growing up watching her sit up all night until they projected a winner; sometimes it would be the next morning before the result would come in. Anyways, it was still too early to tell so the husband and I watched an episode of Sons of Anarchy, our favorite show, and then around 11:15 turned CNN back on. They had already projected the President Obama would win the election. That was really fast. I was sure it would be at least past midnight before a projection would have been made. Oh well, that let me catch up on some rest I missed the night before 馃檪

This is a picture I took from CNN’s website when they had projected Obama to win. There were still many states not decided yet.

Here are the results as of this morning 11/7/12:
