Last Sunday was Baby Z’s first baby shower and he was “showered” with countless gifts. I was super energized and even purchased a new dress for the occasion. The dress came in merely 2 days before the big event, it had me on pins and needles if it was going to arrive on time or not. I have never had a baby shower before so I wasn’t sure what to do. I have attended as a guest to several so I kind of knew what to except. The Safari Theme shower was thrown by my husband’s step mother and with help from her sister-in-law in her home and it turned out great! She went out of her way to make it very special.

I was surprised by the turn out. There were many people there whom cared about my little man enough to spend some of their weekend at his baby shower. Sorry, I don’t have pictures of everyone who was there. I will have to get them from my father-in-law. There was great food and fun games. We played the “don’t say baby” game or you lose your necklace and a fill in the blank nursery rhyme game. I only got 7 out of 25. I guess I need to brush up on my nursery rhymes before Baby Z arrives because I had no idea who the three men in the tub were.

Gifts! Wow what can I say but thank you! I am not one to except anything from anyone and I work hard for what I have and I know others do the same. For the guest to shower my little man with such wonderful heartfelt gifts is amazing to me.  It is very humbling to me. Again, thank you to all my friends and family that attended. Your gifts and attendance meant the world to me.

Christmas in January January 10, 2013

I know I haven’t been writing much in the last month but we have had a lot going on in the family and doing too much traveling to stop and type out a blog. Anyway, enough with my excuses, I wanted to let you all in on how our Christmas went. Just like every year, we traveled to Nashville to visit my mother-in-law and stay a few days. It was a little sad this year due to the fact Phil’s sweet grandfather passed away a few days before Christmas but we made the best of a sad situation. I know our fur babies made it an interesting trip. My husband grilled a awesome turkey and we had a great Christmas dinner. It was nice to get away from home for a bit.

Stop # 2. Off to my parents house in Loudon to celebrate. My mom cooked us lunch and as always she cooked too much so we were stuffed. No pups with us this time just their little dog Gizmo and my brothers dog. I feel like I never get to spend enough time here on Christmas because we still have one more stop to go.

Stop # 3. Off to my father-in-laws house in Farragut, TN. Here we have Christmas dinner with my father-in-law and his wife along with a couple of their close friends, my brother-in-law and grandmother. As always, great food good times.

Stop # 4. Home sweet home. We always get home pass midnight and I always have to work first thing in the morning, but it is worth it.

I hope everyone had a happy holidays this last year!

I normally always make my cookies from strach however I saw these and fell in love with them. And finally the lucky lotto tickets, maybe he will get lucky 😉 l

I have been pondering on what to do for Valentines day for 2 weeks now and I can’t come up with anything 😦  We are short on money due to our up coming wedding and along with being short on money we are also short on time.  I was thinking maybe a trip  to the mountains and rent a cabin. However, we have so many meeting with caterers and bakers etc, we don’t have time to get a way. I want to do  something special but I am short on  ideas.

I was thinking maybe I could make something for him. This way I could save money and it would be a little more personal. I was thinking about this:

I hope I can figure this out soon it is a little over 2 weeks away!
