Plugged in my 3 year old heater and it didn’t work. Called up Honeywell and they told me to ship the old one to them and they would ship me a new one. Total cost $10. Too bad the new one was also broken.

Date Night: Painting at Spirited Art November 8, 2012

image

I have been trying to get Mr Z to go painting with me for awhile now. He thought it would be too girly but I told him there were normally are other males there and that you could bring alcohol. After some resistance, he caved in and went with me on Wednesday night. The painting was a Klimit Forest and it was an abstract painting. I was a bit worried since Mr Z is an engineer with a type A personality, thus it is hard for him to do anything “outside the box.”

The class started at 6:30 and we arrived a little early to get set up. It was a small class that night, about 8 people, and of course all were girls. Oh well, we got all art supplies ready and wine poured, ready to go. The instructor welcomed everyone and started the painting. She went step-by-step and waited on everyone to finish before moving on. Mr Z didn’t seem uncomfortable and seemed like he was having fun. I was really impressed. By the time the class finished and I looked at his painting and he had done a great job. It was his first time painting and he said he had a good time.

After the class, we went downtown to Market Square. We were hungry and wanted to try a new place. CoCoa Moon is were we ended up landing. There they serve a wide variety of international foods, mostly a mix of Asian and Latin. I had the Spicy Orange Chicken and he had the Singapore Noodles. Everything was very good. I recommend it if you are in the area and want to have a nice relaxing dinner.

We had a such a good time together.

Erick Baker – Bijou Theater February 18, 2012

The first time I saw Erick Baker perform it was at Barley’s in the Old City about 6 years ago. A friend of ours happens to be friends with Erick and wanted us to go check him out and have a few drinks. Once I heard him perform, I was captivated. This guy truly knows the meaning of music. His songs are low-key and restrained and maintain a dark, candlelit mood, romantic and emotional feeling, he can make any girls heart melt and I just love hearing him sing, plus he is very easy on the eyes 😉 What better person to get to sing at your wedding right? Well, as many of my readers all ready know, I indeed made that happen. This is how much I adore this guy, so when I heard he was playing again at the grand Bijou Theater on February 17, I had to get tickets.

After a small mix up in dates; someone, me, thought it was last weekend and as we walked up to the Bijou I noticed the sign on the side of the building stating said “Erick Baker 2/17  SOLD OUT” it just happen to be 2/10… Oops Oh well, we made it last night (on the correct day) and it was a tremendous show! There, we saw friends we haven’t seen for a while and even Bill Haslam of Governor was present. After the concert was over we met up at Latitude 35 in Market Square and then walked to the Old City for a few drinks at none other place than Barley’s, where it all began.  What a great night! I honestly couldn’t have had a better one.

(Bill Haslam on the first balcony in grey, I honestly didn’t know until now he was in this picture. I was just trying to show the beautiful  balcony’s inside)

If Erick is every in your town, since he is on tour, then I highly recommend you go see him. You won’t regret it!

Half-off Date Night October 10, 2011

This Friday was our half-off double, (triple) date night and we happen to snag tickets for Dead Man’s Farm in Lenoir City from Deal Chicken for $13 for 2 people. We love Halloween and all the things that go with it. Since, we had so much fun last year at Fright Night Manor, scared-to-death, we really wanted try another haunted house. Dead Man’s Farm was said to belong to the Bludgeon family who used to practice black magic. In doing so, they would and mutilate their livestock and farm hands. The house is rumored to be haunted by their evil spirits, and two paranormal teams have investigated the phenomenon and said it was indeed truly haunted. I didn’t see any scary ghost hanging around the place but there were a few frightening costumes.

We had to wait in line for about 30 minutes before we were permitted to enter the house. They were splinting the large crowd into small groups and since we had a group of 7 we got to go unaccompanied. Once, we entered the house they told us the legend of the Bludgeon family and how they experimented with black magic. They said the house is haunted by the evil spirits of those that died at the families’ hands. As we started our tour we came across different rooms, each showing a horror scene; however, it was so dark in the house you couldn’t see were you were going. We ended up, twice, in the back of the house and not on the tour at all. The tour took about 20 minutes and was a combination of outside and inside. I would stay it is a decent haunted house it had a scary parts but for the most part mainly just people jumping out to scare you.

I would get this house 3 out of 5 stars.

Pros: Cost, you can get 50% off discounted tickets online and if not it was only $13/person. Wasn’t overly packed. A lot of parking. They had entertainment outside while you were waiting to enter the house.

Cons: Too short for me, the parking lot needed some grass, it was just dirt. Distance, it was about 45 min drive.

Half off Fridays,
On Fridays, double date night, we try to do something new and cheap for one of the discount website like Living Social, Groupon or Halfoff Depot. A few weekends ago we went to Fun Center Putt Putt in West Knoxville and after went and got drinks and dinner at Brixx.

I purchased 2 games of putt putt, 2 cokes, and 40 tokens in the arcade for $14 off Halfoff Depot. Pretty cheap for date night. I haven’t played putt putt since I was a child in Myrtle Beach on a family vacation about 15 years ago and needless to say it showed. I did come in last place, shocker, but I did get a hole-in-one!
We didn’t get to dinner until late, I think it was 10:30, which was a good thing. Brixx has a great late night special. They had but on get on free on the pizzas and appetizers and $2.50 Yuengling drafts. I have never been much of a beer drinker but I thought I would try it out, and I liked it! Now I am starting to give beer another try. So far like only Yuengling and Fat Tire.

I hope this will continue, and I will be able to find new deals and try new things

Everyone that got a hole in one got their picture taken. We let Joey get his taken also for his hole in 2.
