I haven’t written in the blog lately due to a number of reasons, main one being a mom to a crazy busy toddler. I wanted to update everyone on Little O’s progress. I try to keep everyone up-to-date on his Facebook page but it is only a sentence or 2. We have begun therapy. Tennessee Early Intervention System,TEIS, comes once a week, in house, to work on his developmental issues. They mainly focus on his speech. At 1 year old he was 40% delayed in speech, I am sure that percentage is higher now, thus causes other issues. He maybe all smiles one minute and complete melt down the next. He can not tell you want he wants, I am not sure he knows. I can say he is getting better but words are limited. His current vocabulary is: more, car, bye bye, see ya, go and yeah. No mommy or daddy, I get called by crying to come meet his needs. I am sure this will get better, I hope.

Medical wise, he is doing awesome. His heart is working great for him. He does have high blood pressure and it is controlled by meds. He is still skinny and short per the doctors percentile charts and is prescribed pediasure to help with weight gain. He has low iron and has to a supplement to help raise it but so far it continues to drop. He is due a check up next month for more blood work and his 2 year old visit. We also have a Vanderbilt appointment in November to see how he is doing. Just a small medical update on Little O.

Christmas in January January 10, 2013

I know I haven’t been writing much in the last month but we have had a lot going on in the family and doing too much traveling to stop and type out a blog. Anyway, enough with my excuses, I wanted to let you all in on how our Christmas went. Just like every year, we traveled to Nashville to visit my mother-in-law and stay a few days. It was a little sad this year due to the fact Phil’s sweet grandfather passed away a few days before Christmas but we made the best of a sad situation. I know our fur babies made it an interesting trip. My husband grilled a awesome turkey and we had a great Christmas dinner. It was nice to get away from home for a bit.

Stop # 2. Off to my parents house in Loudon to celebrate. My mom cooked us lunch and as always she cooked too much so we were stuffed. No pups with us this time just their little dog Gizmo and my brothers dog. I feel like I never get to spend enough time here on Christmas because we still have one more stop to go.

Stop # 3. Off to my father-in-laws house in Farragut, TN. Here we have Christmas dinner with my father-in-law and his wife along with a couple of their close friends, my brother-in-law and grandmother. As always, great food good times.

Stop # 4. Home sweet home. We always get home pass midnight and I always have to work first thing in the morning, but it is worth it.

I hope everyone had a happy holidays this last year!

I recently started a hub page to see if my blog entries could gain some cash. This is my first post. Enjoy 🙂

Can’t We All Just Coexist

I have a philosophy in life. I do good because I am a good person, not because I have a fear of punishment nor do I do good because I want a reward in the afterlife. I do good simple because I want people to do good to me.

As many of my readers now know I have came out of the closet and admitted I was Agnostic. Many people didn’t quite know what to think or even know what an Agnostic person believed in.  Agnosticism is not a religion- it is more of a philosophy of life. An agnostic is a skeptic, or someone who constantly questions all bases of human knowledge. Agnostics believe that keeping an open mind (especially in matters such as faith) is essential because humans have limited understanding of the workings of the universe. Simply put an Agnostic is someone who doesn’t know if God exists and that is me.

I do not push my views on others and I let others make up their own minds about me.  I do not judge people based on any religiousness preaching, I judge people on their actions and I ask others to do the same. Once I announced to the world of the South my beliefs it felt so good. I didn’t have to hide it anymore and for most people they honestly didn’t mind, but with the good come the bad. I quickly learned that all Christians are not the same. I have had 2 open conversions with 2 different religious people about my beliefs and the end result was different with each. It really opened my eyes, neither in a bad way nor good way.

Anyways, back to the reason I started this blog in the first place. On the back of my car I COEXIST decal (I really want to put a Darwin decal but I fear vandalism.)

My husband and I went to the Old City to get some dinner one night on a weekend. We return to see there is card in the driver’s side window. At first I wasn’t sure what is was all about until I flipped it over. Really, you can’t be serious!

The Coexist decal promotes coexistence among people who practice different religions and people who have different points of view and you are pushing your views on me. Wow I honestly couldn’t believe it. My husband was appalled that someone would do that. We calmed down and thought well maybe they put them on everyone’s vehicle so we drove around the parking lot and couldn’t find a single car that had that card on it. I was taken back by this whole experience and I am not sure why it bugged me so badly. I guess, I was thinking that I don’t run around putting evolution information on every vehicle I see with a Jesus fish and except the same. I wanted to clear the air with everyone who doesn’t know what Coexist really means.  I have explained the meaning of each letter in the word COEXIST

  • for the letter “c,” a crescent moon representing Islam is substituted
  • for the letter “o,” the peace symbol or pagan/Wiccan pentacle is substituted
  • for the letter “e,” a male/female symbol or a scientific equation is substituted
  • for the letter “x,” the Star of David representing Judaism is substituted
  • for the letter “i,” a pagan/Wiccan symbol is substituted
  • for the letter “s,” a Chinese yin-yang symbol is substituted
  • for the letter “t,” a cross representing Christianity is substituted

I am sorry for my soap box moment!
